Blog 9: Changes to my study program

Hello everyone! There is no much time left for the end of semester, and finally I’ll be able to enjoy,
sleep and rest haha. Today I’ll talk about my career, especially about its degree program.

Odontology in the University of Chile made a big change in its curriculum map a little time ago.
This change was focused in improve the integration of the knowledge in the different subjects, for
this reason we don’t work with “subjects”, but with “UTES”, which is like a combination of
subjects. For me in particular, I like this new system but I think they should do some modifications,
because there is too much academic load and a lot of stress along the year, which is not healthy.
And this starts from the first year to the last, which is the 6 th year.

About the curriculum, thanks to this same change from subjects to “UTES”, it’s a good curriculum
because of the integration of subjects and the practical workshops pre-clinical that starts at the
first year, something that doesn’t happen on other universities.

The infrastructure of the Dentistry Faculty is kind of poor, or that’s what I think. We lack of places
to rest and study. The cafeteria of the university is a dirty place and has no ventilation. Also, we
don’t have enough green areas.

The technology in the faculty isn’t one of the best either, but maybe it is enough for the little
space we have. But they work, and that’s important. But in other faculties the technology area is
amazing. Here they don’t invest on that.

About the teaching method, the attitude and disposal of the teachers is really important, ant
that’s something I like a lot. I think my teachers are really good, and they really enjoy what they
do, and enjoy teaching it, or at least most of them. Also, I like the method of first teaching
something in a theoretical way, and then doing seminaries or practical workshops about that, and
solve doubts in those instances too. This way we are able to remember and understand better the
subject.

Summer Plans

Hi everyone! Today I talk about summer plans, but honestly I still don’t think about that because first I need to concentrate in the university with my test and pre-clinic internship, and I’m very tired and there is a lot left to do.

Well, with my family we want to go to our plot of land, it is between Melipilla and Lago Rapel, I love this place because it is ours, calm and beautiful, it is totally  different to the city and I like this. I want to go with my family, obviously haha and my boyfriend and my brother’s girlfriend, I like so much when we go together, it is very fun.

Our plot of land has a swimming pool, so I want so much to swim in that, I love to swim and I want to learn to do juggling, my boyfriend knows how to do this and I hope that he teaches me.

Also, I want to go out with my friends of school because for a long time I don’t see them and I miss them so much.  And I want to go out with my other friends too. I love to stay with them and only walk or watch a movie, really I like to do anything with them.

Something I want to learn in this summer is to play ukulele but first I have to buy it haha but I’m saving for this, this instrument is like a guitar but is smaller and it has four strings, not six.

THE PETS

Hello everyone, I hope you are well, finally it is Friday haha ​​and today I talk about pets, it is one of my favorite topics.

In my life I have had many pets. I had 2 cats, 3 hamsters, a gerbil, a chicken, a rooster, a rabbit, many canaries, and in total I had 5 dogs, I currently have 3 dogs.
To 2 we adopted them and the other one arrived only at a plot that we have near of Melipilla, he is very tender and guardian, his name is Negro.

The first pet that I had called Pepi, I named her when I was 1 year old, she lived 18 years, she always accompanied me in everything and her departure was painful but she had already lived all that she could live.

As I said, I had a rabbit, she was called Mailén and she was just like a dog, but she was tiny.  She slept with me and she didn´t like me to turn my back on her, she started kicking me and sometimes, I woke when she up licking my nose. She died of an illness in her stomach, it was very sad and until today I feel sorry.

My pets now, two live with me and are called, Almendra and Simba. The Almendra is very tender, flashy, ​​guardian and has a lot of patience, she is brown and she is big in size and people scared of her, it also barks a lot but she is the most adorable dog in the world! The Simba, he is white and the light coffee, the whirlwind, the playful, he has energy all day and he is flashy too.

BLOG 6: Postgraduate Studies

Hi everyone! I’m very tired because I have many things to do but now I want to distract myself  about that and I concentrate in the Blog. Today I write about the future, again haha but this blog is more specific because I talk about the postgraduate studies.

I’m in the second year of my career, dentistry at the University of Chile and I haven’t thought about my future studies, but now I want to end my career and after I will want to study Maxillofacial Implantology or Maxillofacial Orthodontic and Orthopedic because I love the change that they can reach, it is very beautiful and if I don’t study a specialty or master or another thing, the money isn't enough.

In these specialties I have very interesting subjects, such as oral rehabilitation, surgery and biological sciences, all these applied in different areas.

 I like to study in Chile for my family, but sometimes I think better and I like to study abroad, too. In the last situation I will miss my family and my pets :( but at the same time it will be very exciting.

I don’t know how I would like to study because depends on the situation, but I prefer to study in the same place that I will live and I would like to study while I work, I wish I could take a part-time course.

My future job

Hi everybody! Today, in this blog I will talk about my future job.

Currently, I study dentistry in the University of Chile and in the future I prefer a job where I look after people, I mean, I want to stay with the patient directly, I don’t like ,for example pathology, because they work more in the laboratory and they aren´t many times with the patient. I prefer to be in orthodontics, implatology or oral rehabilitation, because I can help directly and I can see the change after the treatment that should feel very rewarding.

I imagine my future job with beautiful people, comfortable places with music while looking after the patient.

For my career, it is necessary that my job will be indoors because I need the place clean, tidy and sterile, all this is for the patient like this we can give the better attention and treatment.

I love to travel and I hope in the future I will be able to travel a lot but not always for the job, I prefer travel for my own decision.

About the salary I don’t have any idea haha, but a little that I know is that the salary isn’t too much because this career is swamped.

I like so much this career and I hope will be happier when I end the study and start to work than now.

Ghett'a Life Film

Hi everyone. Today I write about the film, “Ghett’a Life”,  we watched it the last Tuesday.

I really liked this movie because it shows how the life in Jamaica is. And shows a real life of the man, who fight for his dream, I liked that this film doesn’t show fake life where all the things are happy like a fairy tale. Although, for me it was very difficult to understand the movie, because I am bad at English, unfortunately :( I always was concentrated in the film, even I was close to crying

My favorite character is Dawn Thompson, because she is his mother and she believed in him, and she helped him because she really loves him.

I didn’t like when Derrick arrived to Bruising Gym and he wasn’t well received because he doesn’t belong there. But I like so much when a boy fell to the river and Derrick pounced on the water with a rope and saved him and after of this moment he was well received.

My favorite scene was when Derrick won the Boxing tournament, and his father believed in him. After that, Don Sin was a murder victim of Gully Rat, but his killer also died, this part is so sad :(

Shutter Island

Hi! I hope that you are well. Today I write about my favourite movie because I didn’t watch “Suffragette” movie, I want to watch it.

So, I write about “Shutter Island”, really this isn’t my favourite movie but it is very interesting and I love this movie. My favourite character is Teddy, this is the main character of this movie, performed by Leonardo DiCaprio, this person thought that he was a detective and he had a companion called Chuck Ale and his mission was to find a woman called Rachel Solando , but later he realize that his reality is fake.

I don’t have a favourite scene; I like the process when I understood that Teddy really is a patient of Psychiatric Hospital Ashecliff and Rachel was his wife, she died before of all this because I love how the movie took an unexpected turn, I love movies that make me think and that aren’t predictable. And this part when he was very sad because he remembers who is Rachel and remembers his sons, is a part of movie that I didn’t like, his suffering makes me sad. And things that I like of the movie were the hallucination because it warns me that something was wrong.
